Labour’s Budget – “A Missed opportunity”
27 Nov 2025
Bexley Liberal Democrat Chair, Oliver Brooks, has branded Labour’s budget, “A whopping missed opportunity to boost the economy and fix the damage caused by Brexit”.
The freeze on income tax thresholds imposed by the previous Conservative Government and now pursued by the current Labour Government will collectively hit people with annual £67 billion tax bill at the start of the next decade**. Yesterday’s budget alone dragged 370,000 people in London and the Southeast into the higher rate of tax by 2029. Oliver called for “Real change, meaningful growth and an end to the politics of chaos.”
